Face On Putting is a dramatic change in the way almost everyones putts. It requires you to make changes to your comfortable putting style, yes the putting style that is not working for you today, but is still comfortable. It has been asked, "If you keep doing the same thing, can you expect different results?" If you keep doing what you have in the past, nothing is going to change!
While doing some research on Face On Putting we came across the Lateral Line Putter and a putting style that will change the way you putt today. John Ambrose, the inventor of the Lateral Line Putter has done all of the hard work in creating a putter and making the videos that describe how to use it and that will make you a better putter.
To the left is a picture of John in the correct position for making a good stroke using the Face On Putting style. He is looking at the target, shoulders, hips, feet are all square to the intended target line. He does not have to try to look at the target with his less dominant eye, he has both eyes looking where he wants the ball to roll, insuring the best chance for getting the distance right with proper depth perception.
For a Face On Putting stroke you will want to have a very heavy putter with a large sweet spot, the Lateral Line Putter is the putter to use. It is specially designed for this stroke. Do not be confused to think any putter will work. Simply using a long putter will not allow you to make the stroke needed, trust us we have already tried using one of our long putters.
Helpful Hints For Putting
A slow rhythmic back stroke and follow through that only vary in lenghth will determine the distance the ball will roll. A smooth One-Two tempo will be the same cadence no matter how big the stroke. It is the momentum of the folow through sttroke that will produce a longer roll.
You want to practice a shoulde stroke feel by using one arm to hit a few balls. This will eliminate the "hitting" tendency when you return to the proper position.
A momentary lifting of the club prior to the stroke will allow for good feeling for judging the weight of the club. This will also reduce the tendency of scuffing the green and checks for proper grip pressure to avoid twisting.
